2A & 2B: WEDNESDAY
*See myTimetable for Room & Time

Studio Inquiry

The Everyday Museum studio explores the fields of Experience Design, Design Strategy and Design Identity. You will explore everyday experiences that have the potential to nourish and drive your creative process. You will be introduced to The Everyday theme through workshops that investigate the potential of seeing the familiar with fresh eyes, telling stories through everyday objects and creating a pop up Museum.

You will discover that storytelling is at the heart of connecting with designated audiences and finally you will conceptualise and design your own museum experience, utilising inspiring visual language designed to resonate with Gen Z audiences.

Engagement

You will examine motivations and strategies young people use to connect to cultural activities, events and experiences.

Working in groups you will research the roles of Museums and the vision, objectives and values of your hypothetical client the Immigration Museum. You will investigate how everyday lived experiences and issues facing young people can inspire creativity and provide ignition points for storytelling and creating compelling museum experiences.

This  knowledge will inform your design strategy and drive conceptual development. The resolved experience concept will be presented in a proposal format positioned to key Immigration Museum stakeholders.

Communication of knowledge

Knowledge will be communicated to the whole group through photo journals, personal archives, group research presentations and individually presented design strategies, initial sketches, design concepts and prototypes.

Finally, you will present a concept for a Museum experience, event, public program or exhibition comprising a design strategy, visitor experience visualisation and a visual language system applied to an announcement campaign.

Activities

Workshops that investigate the potential of storytelling through everyday objects, seeing the familiar with fresh eyes and how your lived experience can be used to guide and inform your conceptual development.
